This temple is situated on the beautiful Seminary Hills, Nagpur. Nagpur known for its oranges and medical facilities now is also known for holy and spiritual places. According to ancient history, it is the most enriched one. The original idol of Gruhlaxami Ambabai was discovered in the place of Warora. During farming activities proceedings back in the year 1756, this idol was found. The goddess in the Kul devta of the Khot Family. At present, the 13th generation of the Khot family follows all the rituals and procedures to adorn the idol. The replica of the same was placed here in the year 2015 on Chaitra Suddha Ashtami which was on Friday. As we know, the day of the goddess is Friday, therefore the idol was installed on Chaitra Suddha Asthami. It is considered to be a prosperous day and time according to Hindu Mythology. This is the famous Hindu Temple in Central India.
The goddess Ambabai is made of Swayambhu which means self-manifested and shaligram which refers to as Ganda ki stone. The swayambhu avatar of the Devi has immense power and thus this shrine has been the famous one. The glimpse of this avatar is a hard found opportunity, as this can be witnessed only on special occasions. During Nidra K aal, one can witness this. Nidra Kaal means where the goddess takes a rest for a day or two. And in this, the goddess is been taken to some other place for the same by. A huge procession is being carried out.
The idol is always decorated with heritage ornaments that are made of pure gold and some other precious metals. The saree is beautifully draped around the goddess. The appearance of the idol is such an awestruck which fills one’s heart with utmost divinity, positivity, and contentment. The throne on which the idol is being sat is made of Silver and weighs about 85 kilograms. It has elegant carvings of the moon and sun which are on the right and the left shoulders of the goddess respectively. The goddess is also known as Maha Saraswati as it consists of eight arms donning various weapons mentioned in Hindu Mythologies which are Koshti, Deshastha, Brahmin, Teli, Koli, sonar, Kalar, etc
One should visit this God temple in Nagpur at least once in his/her lifetime.
